What a great quilt to make this winter to cheer you up on those cold winter days that are ahead of us!  As you sew, enjoy that wonderful feeling of sunshine upon you!

At one time, I liked to tuck away and save the last bits of my treasured fabrics. I have since changed my way of thinking. Why not enjoy those fabrics in a quilt that I can see, instead of hiding them in that box, basket or bag! I made this quilt using some of my favorite scraps. Scrap quilts are such a wonderful way to use up all those “Best of Fabrics”!

Baby Patches was adapted from my Trading Patches/Scrappity-do-dah quilt that I made several years ago for McCall’s Quilting.  The original quilt was made from a charm square swap and appears much darker.  I love the bright happy colors in this quilt with the diagonal sashing all using the same fabric.  Using the same sashing fabric, an appliquéd name banner was added to personalize the quilt. 

If you would like to make your own quilt, a limited amount of Baby Patches kits will be available to purchase at our online store, as well as precut fusible alphabet appliqués.

I had such fun making this block, playing with all kinds fabric combinations for the baskets and flowers.  Did you notice my use of the yellow gingham for the baskets sash?  That’s because every Gingham Girl creation needs to have a bit of gingham in it!

I had so many ideas on how to use this block and want to share with you one of those ideas.  I designed this runner which expands the original block. 

As a blog tour bonus, we made up a few kits to make your own Buckle Up runner.
